Financial literacy game for students

A classroom financial literacy game: let students manage money before the real thing

Freedom Life is an online board game where students get a career, a salary, expenses and debt, then decide for themselves how to spend. It suits teachers who want the class to try things before the theory.

Why playing makes money easier to talk about

Cash flow and debt in a textbook can feel abstract. In the game students have to choose whether to buy a deal or keep the cash, and immediately see the effect on their character's income, expenses and stress, which gives the class an easy starting point for discussion.

How to use it in a lesson

Split the students into groups of 2-6 and let each group play one round, which takes about 30-60 minutes. Keep some time at the end to discuss which decision grew Passive Income and which one squeezed cash. If a group is short of players, the room owner can fill the seats with NPCs.

The teacher needs no equipment: everyone opens the same website and joins the same room with a Room ID.

How the game works

  1. Create a room and share the Room ID

The teacher or a group representative creates a room and sends the Room ID to classmates to join. No sign-up is needed.

  2. Everyone gets their own career

Draw 1 of 20 Thai careers, each with a different salary, expenses and debt, so students can compare their decisions.

  3. Decide, then discuss the result

Roll the dice, land on an event tile, choose to buy, sell the rights or pass, then read the end-of-game summary to see who escaped Slave to Money first and why.
